Home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt said he heard something from the area of the dugout, and rather than determine who said it: "Aaron Boone is the manager ofthe New York Yankees and is responsible for everything that happens in that dugout. ... I don’t want to eject a ballplayer. We need to keep them in the game. That’s what the fans pay to see. Aaron Boone runs the Yankees. He got ejected."

主審說有聽到球員休息區傳來聲音，不確定是誰講的，但Boone是總仔，要對休息區發生的所有事負責。主審說他不想趕球員是因為需要他們繼續打比賽，所以就是Boone出去。

後續補充

More Hunter Wendelstedt: "Apparently what he said was there was a fan right above the dugout. This isn’t my first ejection. In the entirety of my career, I have never ejected a player or a manager for something a fan has said. I understand that’s going to be part of a story or something like that because that’s what Aaron was portraying. I heard something come from the far end of the dugout, had nothing to do with his area but he’s the manager of the Yankees. So he’s the one that had to go.”

大意就是主審說他不曾因為球迷講的話驅趕過球員或教練，他真的聽到休息區有人講了什麼
