球隊人士透露紅襪沒有意願開出十年大約，認為這種合約對大多球隊來說未來有害；同時紅襪的目標將轉往以優先留下Devers為主。原因有二，一來是Devers比較年輕，二來紅襪內部預估Devers的長期風險比較低，給長約面臨的風險也相對較低，值得球隊投資。
