The San Antonio Spurs are the only team in the 2025 NBA Draft with two picks
inside the lottery. They’ll have opportunities to select players at number
two and number fourteen. While the second pick is expected to return a
top-level prospect, the fourteenth is a bit more of a toss-up.

San Antonio is in a unique position where they can select a near-sure thing
with the second pick, and take a swing with the fourteenth selection, or
select a safer, high-floor player who fits a positional need. The Spurs coulduse another big man, and players like Thomas Sorber, Collin Murray-Boyles,
Derik Queen, and Asa Newell will likely be available at fourteen. There will
be a choice selection of young wings at fourteen, including Cedric Coward,
Carter Bryant, Nique Clifford, Liam McNeeley, and Rasheer Fleming, all of
whom could fill a need for the Spurs.

However, the prevailing thought around the league, according to rumors, is
that the Spurs would prefer to trade this pick for a veteran. That could be
in a splashy trade for someone like Kevin Durant, or in a more measured move
for a veteran wing or big man who would come at a cheaper cost. If nothing ofthat sort comes to fruition, the Spurs could move out of or back in the
draft, acquiring more assets in a move that would resemble the Rob Dillinghamtrade from the 2024 NBA Draft.

In many ways, there is a more diverse set of options for San Antonio with
fourteen, making it one of the most interesting choices of their offseason.
