Tanzania National Baseball League to open on 4 May

The regular season will run through 28 September. The Placement Round and the Finals are scheduled in December.

The second edition of the Tanzania National Baseball League (TNBL) is scheduledto start on Saturday, 4 May. The defending champions Tigers will face the Dragons, their fiercest rivals in the inaugural season.

The Fighters and the Giants complete the participants in the four-team league. Each team will compete in an 18-game regular season through 29 September.

A Placement Round with a page-system format will follow. The round will start with the top two finishers (Game 1) and the third-place and fourth-place teams (Game 2) facing each other. The Game 2 winner will play the Game 1 loser, with thewinner facing the Game 1 winner in the final.

"We are excited to showcase the talent and enthusiasm of our players and to witness the growth of baseball in Tanzania," commented Abubakary Nachiwa, the TNBL CEO.

The Azania Secondary School, Ilala, Dar es Salaam, hosted from 9 to 11 Decemberthe 11th Baseball and the seventh Softball Koshien tournament for secondary schools.

Five baseball and three softball teams with a total of approximately 200 players participated in the tournaments.
