首先說，因為這裡空格前的詞性是及物動詞eat，所以後面必須要接受詞，所以：

那麼，whatever的考點到底有什麼呢？

1. 當作副詞連接詞，等於no matter what，其後要接不完整句，也就是缺少主詞或受詞的句子。

Ex. [Whatever you say], she won't forgive you.
= [No matter what you say], she won't forgive you.
= She won't forgive you [whatever(=no matter what) you say].

2. 當作名詞子句，基本上可以視為是what名詞子句的加強語氣。

Ex. I know [whatever you want].
-> I know [just/exactly what you want].

至於whatevrr的第三個考點比較複雜，基本上是結合了關係形容詞跟副詞連接詞的特色搞出來的東西，與其用文法還倒不如用語感解說不定還比較有效率。

那麼原PO說的anything為什麼不行呢？

因為如果你使用anything就會造成有兩個主要動詞在一個句子裡，這是大忌！

an order.

如果非要選anything不可，那就是要變成anything that looks或者是其化簡形式的anything looking。
