Prof. Pai-Yen Chen is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA.
Currently, Dr. Chen’s lab at UIC has open positions for Ph.D. students, who
can start from 2026 Spring or 2026 Fall semester. Our research mainly focuseson RF/microwave/millimeter-wave/THz antennas and circuits, semiconductor and
RFIC technologies, wearable and nearable sensors, electromagnetics,
metamaterials, nanophotonics, and quantum science and engineering. More

Nature, Nature Electronics, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications,
Science Advances, Physical Review Letters, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, NanoLetters, and numerous IEEE transactions) and 10 US patents. He is a Fellow ofIEEE and Optica.He serves as Topic Editor of IEEE Sensors Journal, Track
Editor of IEEE Trans. Antennas and Propagation, Senior Editor of IEEE JSAS,
and Associate Editor of Optics Express and Advanced Photonics Nexus. He is
Distinguished Lecture of IEEE Sensors Council and IEEE Antennas and
Propagation Society.
