有些英語老師很認真的灌輸學生錯誤的文法概念,
渾然不知參考書和測驗卷的試題充滿謬誤。

台大外籍教授史嘉琳回覆某些國中英語教師的提問如下。
A question from Ashley Lee:
> Dear Prof. Chung,
“He is not in Taiwan. He has ____ America for two weeks.”
(A) gone to
(B) been in
(C) gone in
(D) been to
The answer given to this multiple choice question is (B). Could you please
explain the differences among (A), (B), and (D)?
---
Hi Ashley -
(A) is the best answer, since it informs the listener of his *departure*. (B)is possible but not as good, since it doesn't convey the new information of
him leaving - it skips a step. (D) is simply incorrect - you usually follow
"been to" with an adverb of frequency, e.g. "three times", but you wouldn't
use a time phrase like "two weeks".

Emily Lee:
老師您好,
請問has gone to不是表達”已經去(某地)”嗎? 若可以和for two weeks一起使用。
那和has been in… for two weeks 有何差異呢? 謝謝!

Karen on Ivy League Analytical English
Hi Emily -
"Has gone to" refers to the action of *leaving* one place for another.
"Has been in" refers to a continued period of time that somebody *stays* in aplace.
However, "has been to" means 曾經去過. Does this help?

Emily Lee:
Thank You!
